New Scania Touring: Six Lengths and a 90 mm B-Pillar Shift

The redesigned Scania Touring introduces a documented change directly beside the driver’s glazing: Scania moved the B-pillar 90 mm rearwards and altered the front door and adjacent side-window area. The model also comes in six body lengths, making it important to distinguish the published design change from still-unverified replacement-glass part compatibility.

The front-door change and six body lengths

Scania’s launch announcement identifies a redesigned front door, side-window area and a B-pillar moved 90 mm rearwards to improve the driver’s view. The Touring specification published by Scania UK lists six left-hand-drive body lengths: 10.9, 12.3 and 13.0 metres for two-axle configurations and 13.2, 13.9 and 14.7 metres for three-axle versions. Scania also lists left- and right-hand-drive and different door configurations; the six lengths stated here are the published LHD combinations. Source: Scania Touring official specifications.

One new front end — but is the glass common across lengths?

Scania’s public specifications establish body-length and axle variations; they do not establish the windscreen, driver’s window or door-glass part numbers for those variants. It would be a mistake either to assume all six lengths share identical glazing or to assert that each requires different glass. The 90 mm B-pillar relocation also does not mean that a pane’s width changed by 90 mm.

Driver visibility equipment and servicing

Digital mirrors or other driver-assistance equipment do not, on their own, prove that a particular camera looks through a specific pane or that a particular calibration procedure applies. Establish the installed equipment and follow its service instructions.

Next evidence to seek from Scania

The missing technical information is a validated OE/cross-reference list for the new-generation front windscreen, driver-side glazing, front door and adjacent panels, with any relevant steering-position or body-variant restrictions. Scania’s manufacturer documentation, rather than photography, must establish those matches.

For now, the new Touring is a confirmed body redesign offered in multiple configurations. Its precise glazing interchangeability remains undocumented in the public sources cited in this article. General information on preparing a fleet glass enquiry is available in the Journal’s separate identification guide.
